CITIES DEVELOPING INTEGRATED TERRITORIAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS TIS

Exchange of experiences and lessons learnt in Serbia 12 June 2008

The one-day conference “Cities developing integrated Territorial Information Systems TIS. Exchange of experiences and lessons learnt in Serbia” will be held at the Sava center in Belgrade on 12 June 2008.

The main objective of the Conference is to stimulate a DIALOGUE for cities and municipalities that have been working with UN-HABITAT and other Serbian municipalities through sharing of experiences and lessons learned in developing municipal Territorial Information Systems TIS supported by GIS technologies.

The specific objectives of the conference are two fold: to facilitate the exchange of experiences and lessons learned from municipalities in Serbia; and to flag out key issues emanating from experience to find common solutions to face challenges and overcome constraints. The underlying goal is to stimulate debate and action needed for replication and scaling up of good practices and enhancing impact. The experiences presented, the highlights of the workshop sessions and their conclusions will be systematically captures in the proceedings of the conference and will be widely available for public dissemination.

The conference combines key note dynamic presentations with plenary discussions and highly interactive workshop sessions. Main themes for the two parallel workshop sessions are: 1. Achieving integration of information, institutional organization for municipal TIS; 2. Achieving quality, technical solutions for the development of municipal TIS.
