 UN-HABITAT and the Province of Prato in Italy signed a Framework of Cooperation to consolidate their collaboration in supporting SIRP Municipal partners to upgrade their Territorial Information Systems through the development of pilot TIS Projects in each Municipality. The Province of Prato will provide technical assistance to municipal working groups bringing its experience and transferring know-hows on methodological and technical aspects of the developmnt of Municipal Info Sys.
The signature of the Framework of Cooperation marked the opening of the manifestation “Pratosophia 07: geographic information, valorization of resources and management of the territory” organized by the Province of Prato from 25 to 27 January.
On the first day of the three-day conference, the President of the Province of Prato, Mr. Massimo Logli, the Provincial councilor for the government of the territory, Ms. Nadia Baronti, the Head of the Italian Cooperation Local Technical Unit in Belgrade, Ms. Anna Zambrano, and SIRP Programme Chief Technical Advisor, Ms. Ligia Ramirez, intervened during the round table emphasizing the importance of decentralized cooperation, networking and building partnerships between Italian and Serbian local authorities.
Being a pioneer provincial authority in the region of Tuscany for the development of TIS, the Province of Prato will be a valuable partner for Serbian SIRP Municipalities and Cities in the process of achieving better governance and boosting the development of their territory through the use of Information Systems to support decision making in their strategic planning process.
